Child Support Programme (CSP)

 

   

Introduction

 

  • An add on Conditional cash transfer Programme
  • Piloted in 03 districts ( Tharpakar, Bhakkar & Kohistan)
  • Now upscaled in 08 additional districts across the country
  • Continued technical collaboration of the World Bank

 

 

Objectives

  • To promote primary school education and reduce dropout ratio by providing additional resources to ultra poor families for sending   their children to schools

 

Beneficiaries

  • Incentive in the form of cash transfers (On Quarterly Basis)
  • Amount of benefit:
    • Rs. 300/- per month for one child
    • Rs. 600/- per month for two or more children
  • An amount of Rs. 88 (m) has been disbursed among around 12000 households beneficiaries having 35,700 children.

 

Evaluation of Programme by Gallup, Pakistan

  • Initial pilot districts selected through Baseline Study
  • Rapid Assessment reported encouraging results
  • Recent final Impact Evaluation of the programme has revealed its successful implementation. Due to CSP positive impact, enrollment during (2008-10) has been increased by +12 % in the treatment districts of programme and decreased -6% in its comparative control districts.

 

Future Vision

  • The pilot has been successfully evaluated and subsequently the programme is going to be up scaled in 27 districts across the country in year 2011-12. Coverage of 144 districts countrywide  including AJK, NA & FATA will be in a phased manner.
