ROLE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TO MOVE TOWARDS E-GOVERNANCE

The mission of IT Directorate is to provide an efficient Management Information System (MIS) to ensure transparency in government processes and transfer of funds to the correct beneficiary in shortest possible time.

Directorate of IT believes in increasing efficiency, effectiveness and responsiveness with the use of Information and Communication Technology. We are committed to build a robust e-government framework to help the higher management of PBM in delivering the public services to the poor. Major focus of IT Directorate includes Infrastructure development down to district-level, implementation of wide area networks, and maximum usage of technology in delivering public services. The objectives of deploying IT as being a direct influencer tool are:-
  • Help in ensuring accountability and transparency in the public sector.
  • Modernize public services in coordination of other Government Organizations.
  • Rapid deployment and set-up of IT infrastructure.
  • Access to critical "real time" decision support information by providing lungar data at web.
  • Decision support variables or templates such as IFA software of JAD.
  • Reduce redundancy and improve efficiency.(by denying the duplication of records in our database)
  • Increase responsiveness of Government sector in delivering public services such as usage of smart card for disbursement of fundsetc.
  • Bring Government close to beneficiaries by providing them with easier access to information through Internet using PBM Official Web Site (http://www.pbm.gov.pk) and other ways of communication.
